The Horse Barn

we bought an original

charcoal and pencil

drawing of a horse barn

by an artist unknown

to anyone

at the thrift store

for a pittance

drawn in

the tradition

of zen

now it hangs

cherished upon

an eastern wall

restored

each day

with the gold

of sunset

each night

by the light

of the reading lamp
