Futility

april and

this morning the west wind

with all its might

with all its fury pushed

back against

the rising sun

without success

and what was

the point

kill a few

tender flowers

desiccate some

intrepid early leaves

change the

color of the light

nothing accomplished

except to make the

world for

a few moments

cold again
