Trumpet Vine

greedy always

needy of attention but

nicely showy

when confined to

a small corner of

the garden

when boxed with

deep edging

impassible borders

the garden equivalent

of enforceable

court orders

a native amusement

for viewers and

passersby

but leave it

untended

unchecked

unsupervised

in fertile soil

to sprout

well then

its feral runners

its orange

trumpet flowers

spread bigly

overwhelmingly

very very ugly

and invasive

in all directions

until everything

else you planted

hoped would grow

is crowded

in the bed

to a tiny spot

of dry

infertile soil

totally obliterated

or dead
