Unspoken
we grow silent
no more fucks to give
having seen the world
for what it is
ideals discarded
by the roadside
like the greasy wrappers
of our happy meals
*
god has emigrated
far beyond
our walled border
we have no choice now
but to build
our makeshift shelters
with overlooked stones
whose color has no name
*
as the planet warms
diminishes in its
capacity for life
concerns over migration
immigration
differences
continue
like the sea
to rise
our anointed rulers
cannot say
the words
climate change
for fear the drills
will turn upon them
we survive by the repetition
of habits and excuses
old temples crumble
while faceless soldiers
play games of chance
in the hollows of
submarines and
refortified silos
*
there is no equality
when everyone's the same
only women have
the strength to save us
those who have
purged themselves
by rebirth and
the fires of determination
of the twisted angry
chromosome that
asks why from
the very bone but
refuses to listen
to the answer
