i am no

astrophysicist not even

a scientist or engineer

or lab technician

am barely acquainted

with math

forget f-cking

calculus

but i

am drawn to

the theory of

these black holes

the density the

singular concentration of

matter the event

horizon where whatever

light you have

once let in

never shines

back out

i am not

a politician never

ran for office or clung

to those who do

wouldn't

know a bill from

a policy or a

political point

of view

but i

am drawn to

these subordinate satellites

orbiting at their peril

in the dark star's

accretion disk

these campaign staffers

these deputies

these secretaries and

under-secretaries and

chiefs of this and that

who in the circular

pursuit of gravitas

cannot let what's inside

come through who must

lose what they value most to

the great pull of tons

of taurus packed

into a tiny space

how they

one by one and

each by each

end up

dismembered

sucked from

the trajectory of beliefs

by the seductive

gravity of a mass

so infinitely small

and incontrovertibly dense

as to allow nothing

to escape

whose singularity

of perspective

crams together

all illumination and

competing

points of view

and who knows

in the overlapping

spheres of

physics and

politics

what's true

let alone

what's right

when dark is

the center

of all dark

when minds

or so we’re told

make most shit up
