Microhabitat
how can it be this
unique space conjured
by rain and mountains
by tall deciduous trees
near where the waters
of the famous river
curve and foam
past glacial boulders
allowing the climate
and conditions for
these delicate blue flowers
from the temperate north
to thrive to bloom to
set seed to weave
a tangle of shallow roots
among the sleepy brown
and red fallen leaves
in this otherwise
oppressive southern summer
