Fiction

half-way through

the novel the protagonist

who was really the author

cut his finger slicing

an apple which started

an inner dialogue

with the readers

about how in certain

moments everything changes

and there was a

slight purple prose

digression about

the eternal nature

of the red fruit

and adam and eve

and the wisdom

that befalls from

self-awareness when

we're cast

from the garden

and all the while

the plot was unrelenting

in its unfolding with

the antagonists taking

their positions at

the margins and

the momentum of

the pages tilting

ever so steeply to

the final epiphany

in a way the critics

of the book say

never happens

in real life
